If people are large on the thought that other people as well as themselves have a right to live life as they choose it seems a positive system. Only works to a point though I suppose. There are value systems that are so far opposed, I don't think it is possible for them to find middle ground and still be true to their roots. It would also be negative I think if one possessed the belief that their values were objectively 'correct, As in they were right in how they lived their life and others are wrong to live their lives in the way that they do.

Realistically though, I imagine it has it's place in practicality. . . People 'generally have to be willing to work together and compromise in society.

I like to think of myself as a "Centerist".
I like some of the goodies in one bowl, And some of the goodies in the other.
Thus I have historically voted either way. That is, Until some ideas and people I view as slightly over the top, Started screaming so loud that they've managed to completely take over the Liberal side.
I still try to stay in the middle, But these Progressives smell like fascists to me.
