The Northern Sea Route (NSR) runs along the northern coast of Russia on the seas of the Arctic Ocean - the Barents, Kara, Laptev, East Siberian, Chukchi and Bering. It connects the European and Far East ports of Russia, as well as the mouth of the navigable Siberian rivers into a national transportation system in the Arctic. The length adjacent to the SMP navigable waterways - about 37,000 km.
