As a gesture of glad Easter tidings, I thought it appropriate to say something good about Christianity and relate a little anecdote about my cheerful experience of going to church.

I was invited to a service followed by a luncheon at our local church. I couldn't make the service owing to prior commitments at the casino but attended the luncheon where everybody donated a plate of food.

We all stood around with our mouths deliberately stretched from ear to ear, sipping tea when the vicar, looking at all the food uttered, "God has provided". I pondered at what food the Almighty might have donated. It wasn't the sausage rolls since I made them (my wife informed me later that what I thought was a liberal dose of breadcrumbs that I put in the sausage mix was actually a very strong, fast acting, organic laxative).

I figured it was the Swiss cheese and wood oven bread that God "provided" since they were both very holy. I did wonder, mind you, who chipped in with the devilled chicken wings.

Anyway, we all started to get into lovely light conversation when some congregation members decided to suddenly leave, then a few more, then even more. And the funny thing is that they all gave the same excuse, that they had urgent business to tend to.

Strange!

Did the light conversion involve you revealing your position on belief, by any chance?

Glad you mentioned it, and this is what I learned at sales college.......when you are smiling, it is impossible to say something negative. Try it.

You know, if you keep playing the idiot like this, you'll end up being one.

In that case, how do you suggest I play the idiot?
By pretending to be a God follower?
I would definitely be in the running for first prize then, wouldn't I?

By pretending that you didn't know that when the minister said, looking at the food; "God has provided", that he meant that God provided the spirit of generosity within the hearts of those who brought the food.

Or perhaps you ARE an idiot, and you really DIDN'T understand this. I don't know. I was just giving you the benefit of doubt on that.

I would be insulted by such a remark as it shows that people are just automatons that can't do things entirely on their own volition. It gives credit where credit is NOT due.

I think you're working pretty hard at finding a way to be insulted, then, since this is not being implied by the minister's comment. Certainly not if you have any understanding of Christian ideology.

OK, well explain this then.
One woman brought along a plate of what she called "Angel Bread" for the kids. It looked exactly the same as "Fairy Bread".

At least I could see no difference.

Have you ever tried using Google?
Or are you scared to use it for fear of accidentally seeing something that might happen to be contrary to that wich may be written in the Bible?
