I have painstakingly looked through 1,609 posts from the current front page to find which belief (or lack of) group makes the most "attacks" on members of the opposing belief (or lack of).

I only took into account attacks from Atheists to Theists, and Theists to Atheists. Only direct attacks were included (Ie, "passive aggressive" attacks were ignored since they can be misinterpreted easily). Only attacks against specific members were included, rather than attacks against Theism or Atheism as a whole

Results
Atheists attacked Theists 81 times, Theists attacked Atheists 59 times

There were a total of 140 attacks in 1,609 posts, meaning that 8.7% of posts were an attack against an opposing belief

Biases: Because I am myself Agnostic/Atheist, I will likely be biased towards Atheism. I have tried to be as neutral as I can, but I may have had an effect on the results.

Flaws:
I didn't take into account what proportion of active religion forum posters were Atheist or Theist

I used only the first 18 front page topics, so the numbers I have given are only representative of the present.

Note: This isn't to say Theism or Atheism is the "bad" side. It's hard to draw any conclusion like that from these extremely rough and flawed results. This is more to quantify the hate in the Religion forum we are so familiar with.

One thing I should have added: Don't consider these as conclusive "rock solid" facts. I am fairly certain if more rigorous "Studies" were made, then the results would be quite different.

That's something I should have put in "Flaws". It's very subjective. However, I based it on the idea that they are abusive comments with the purpose of trying to make the other person "feel bad" for lack of better words. For example calling them a "moron" or an "idiot" would be considered and attack. I didn't include remarks such as "(Argument/opinion) is dumb" as I felt that wasn't really an attack. As I said, very subjective.

Your study is terribly flawed. If you had just studied Madcornishbiker alone, you would have found he has over 24,000 posts attacking everyone's beliefs who is not a Jehovah's Witnesses. He attacks Catholics, women, Christians and even scriptures . Come back after you finish high school. Maybe you are not college material.

He said that his study was flawed in the original post and then multiple times after. We know. This was merely a simple (yet, I can imagine, very painful) experiment to come up with a few statistics on the hate in this forum. There's really no need to insult.

Maybe you should take the advice too and come back after you finish high school. That way you will know if you are college material. You will get tired being called stupid like all the others who dropped out of school because you cannot participate in intelligent discussions for lack of education.

How have you defined "attack"?

That's something I should have put in "Flaws". It's very subjective. However, I based it on the idea that they are abusive comments with the purpose of trying to make the other person "feel bad" for lack of better words. For example calling them a "moron" or an "idiot" would be considered and attack. I didn't include remarks such as "(Argument/opinion) is dumb" as I felt that wasn't really an attack. As I said, very subjective.

How about sarcasm?

"You are so pleasant I wish we had dozens of you"

Would you consider this comment I made to bully an attack?

If the sarcasm was directed at the person and not the argument, then I included it.

Just realized, didn't mean to assume Axonly was a "he." Sorry about that.

Axonly is a he :)

And damn right it's flawed. No way in hell am I going to make a university grade one. I would be here all day.

This is more to quantify the hate in the Religion forum we are so familiar with.

i'm very surprised at the numbers as the amount of atheists in here compared to believers is ridiculous..
