The New Testament tells us that Jesus was the one and only son of God:

John 3:16 ESV
16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life".

The Old Testament tells us something completely different:

Job 1
6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.

Job 2
1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord.

Job 38
7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

These sons of God (bene elohim) are commonly thought to be angels but nevertheless they are labelled as the progeny of God. In fact this progeny inter-married with mankind according to Genesis:

Genesis 6:1-4
When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, "My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years." The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.

So, does the New Testament lie when it states that Jesus was the one and only son of God? What do Christians think?

Well, your "explanation" fails. It's like saying that one brother smokes and the other doesn't. Therefore one is a son and the other isn't. Your "argument" is absurd. The OT text clearly identifies "bene elohim" which literally translates into sons of God. They either are or are not sons of God. Are you claiming the OT is lying?

The Son part on Jesus is duel because He came from both The Father's Spirit and Man, so that He could both identify with us here to know the struggle of sin and to conquer it for us so that our rest can be upon Him to guide us into God's presence.

I don't claim that the Old Testament is wrong.

I asked for a scriptural citation, not your "answers" which are no more than assertions. If you don't understand the difference then can I respectfully suggest that you are out of your depth in this thread and you should probably give someone else a go who perhaps knows a bit more than you do?

According the Genesis in the loony dee bible at least.

Genesis 6:1-4
When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose. It doesn't state Jesus was the one and only son of God. You just have too much ignorance and too little integerty.

What do Christians think?

Well half will think you are stupid and mistaken, and the other half will think you are just a liar.

Oh, and it looks like the village has just gained a second idiot who laughs at nothing (his only contribution).

Will there be room enough for them in one small village ...?

Stay tuned for this and other exciting developments brought to you by the thread creator. LMAO.

The S-word of God. The sharp two edged Tongue, that cuts all the way through to the division of the Soul and the spirit.

The Bible also says that Adam was a son of God.

Not really. You're thinking of Son of Man.

No. I am not thinking of Son of Man. Adam was called a son of God.

Citation please.

Read it yourself you dumb arced biblical ignorant atheist; "Luke 3: 38."

Fine, that's what I was asking for and that's all he had to do. So God had yet another son, a clay man. Okay, that just makes the thread question even harder for a Christian. I'll wait ...

Read it yourself you dumb arced biblical ignorant atheist; "Luke 3: 38."

Luke 3:38 says Adam was the son of God.

Luke 3:38 the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

But earlier Luke 3:23 says Jesus is the son of Joseph the son of Heli.

Luke 3:23 Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph, the son of Heli, 24 the son of Matthat,

The difference of Jesus makes us also the same with Him through His Spirit; because The Father's Spirit was in Jesus, but the Spirit believers receive is the Spirit of the Son.

Would you like to actually address the thread question instead of ignoring it to preach? Thank you.

The above explanation was to show the difference between Jesus being called the Son of God and Adam or any other man mentioned as being called sons of God.

Actually, NT tells Jesus is the only begotten son.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John. 3:16

Jesus is the only son, who was born like this:

The angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born from you will be called the Son of God.

John. 3:16

That depends on the translation:

http://biblehub.com...

Regardless, the Greek word is "monogenes" which properly means "one-and-only" or "one of a kind" --- literally, "one (monos) of a class, genos" (the only of its kind).

Whatever translation is used, the gospel of John is telling us that Jesus was the only offspring of God.

Jesus is the only son, who was born like this:

The angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born from you will be called the Son of God.
Luke 1:35

What does it matter how he was born? The point is that the OT tells us that there were other sons of God. Is the OT lying?

No. You are.

Jhn 1:12 - But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Rom 8:14 - For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Rom 8:19 - For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

Phl 2:15 - That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world

1Jo 3:1 - Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

1Jo 3:2 - Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Notice moron. All NT.

John 3:16 is probably the most famous verse of the bible. We, unlike you, have known it for years. If you want to attack the bible using a bogus translation, why not use the JW rag? You will get many more "contradictions" than using the NIV.

The phrase "only begotten son" is also used in these verses in the NT, all speaking of Jesus.

Jhn 1:14
Jhn 1:18
Jhn 3:18
Heb 11:17
1Jo 4:9

This is an instance where we see why the enemies of Christ insert fake christians into religious organizations so they can influence translations of the Bible.

Years from now, some later "translation" will be based on the NIV, and they will have succeeded in chiping away one verse. They have not been able to overthrow the Bible at one go, so now they will chip at it a verse at a time, using "accepted" translations.

What does it matter how he was born?

That is how one becomes a son. Being born.

Which version of Jobs 6 are you using? In the NIV, New International Version, I'm not seeing multiple sons.

"6 One day the angels[a] came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan[b] also came with them. "

No it doesn't lie . It - the NT is referring to a different god than that of the ancients of the Old Testament. You just too stupid to work that obvious fact out for yourself.

Nice catch of a contradiction within Christianity within the Bible.

" Genesis 6:1-4 New International Version (NIV)
Wickedness in the World

6 When human beings began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God"

On some level I am deeply embarrassed that I believed in Jesus as one point in time. I just thought I was too smart to be conned.

Take your pick: ESV, KJV, AKJV, ASV, WEB, YLT etc.

The Hebrew word "benei" means sons.
