Undoubtedly, This fundamental problem of present-day humanity is but the product of a deeply-rooted underlying dilemma: good and (vs? ) evil.

Regardless, And perhaps regrettably, The basic nature of this conundrum is one of polarity. That is to say: any and all things 'good' must be equally counter-balanced by any and all things 'evil' such that the dynamic of such a relationship generates a perpetuity. In other words, A Yin and Yang or a snake eating its own tail.

The nature of good and evil is such. But whence comes the actual polarization deriving the relationship of good with evil?

And here is where we find the problem: choice. When an individual chooses (identifies something as) good, Its inverse is immediately generated to counter-balance it. Conversely, When an individual "chooses" what is evil, Its inverse is immediately generated to counter-balance it.

An explicit example can be seen in the following:
Group A believes their doctrine to be true (good) and that of Group B to be false (evil)
Group B believes their doctrine to be true (good) and that of Group A to be false (evil)
Such a conundrum is obviously linked to ones belief/understanding (ultimately: choice) of what is worthy of either living and/or dying for in the name of what is 'good': be it a doctrine or figure unto whose life was sworn.

The magnitude of blood spilled as a result of god-inspired wars (good vs. Evil) is practically incomprehensible: a noteworthy testament to the warning issued in Hebraic mythology involving eating the forbidden fruit surely leading to death.

Choice, Being specific/unique to each individual, Is thus precisely the point of polarization wherein one/infinity becomes two/duality.

This processed is discussed in the Hebraic mythology in symbolic narrative: one androgynous being (Adam) becoming two (Adam and Eve) and how they interact as they are surrounded by two trees: of lives and of knowledge of good and evil.

This is significant because, According to these writings, Elohim warned Adam not to 'eat' of the forbidden fruits of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The tree of lives (lives is actually plural here as the Hebrew word is 'hayim'), As best understood as 'eternal life' would be the same solution to the good and evil conundrum: one/infinity. The tree of knowledge is wherein one finds the duality of good and evil: and as is written (through Eve) Adam is cast out.

And so one can not penetrate the problem further than choice itself: ultimately, The choice itself is the problem. One can only choose what is objectively good if he/she 'knows' good and evil, Which according to the Hebraic mythology, Is the unique quality of the Elohim. Thus, The Elohim are merely beings that have transcended the polarization/duality of good and evil which is what renders them 'gods and goddesses' and distinct (evolved/developed from) human beings.

Interestingly we read that the serpent suggests that one should not die but rather become 'like' Elohim, Knowing good and evil. This is precisely the conduit through which one can evolve from a mortal human being into an Elohim: by eating the fruits.

This involves inner work that is relative to each individual: if one is able to reflect on ones own life, Understand his/her choices, What they lead to (result: cause/effect), And what the obstacles are, One would be effectively eating from the fruits of the tree which leads to gain wisdom/understanding of the nature of ones own being which, As it has been said of old times, Know thyself, And you will know the gods.

Before good and evil, There is first good and bad; good is desirable, Bad is undesirable. For evil to emerge, There needs to be conflict. A universe with one sentient being cannot have evil: conflict with unintelligent matter is bad, Not evil.

Conflict between two or more intelligent beings is the lowest boundary condition of evil. This is why Zoroaster created a god of good and one of evil: he needed to have two superintelligent beings to justify evil. Evil men follow the evil God.

According to scriptures Adam paid the ultimate price for what his rib (Eve) did. If God did not separate Adam from his rib to create Eve. Adam would not have eaten the forbidden fruit that Eve (his rib) offered him.
