if this is valid and true, we are all black as the first ancestors of humans where from Africa.

if this is true, then it's not accurate saying so and so was the first black to do * but rather so and so who looks like they are from Africa was the first to do * It seems that's what it's really about is looks, again if you believe there was a first Adam and Eve and the one-drop rule. If you don't believe either of those then how do you make a determination to label someone as black or not?

I don't think there's anyone left in America today who still takes the one-drop rule seriously. Nobody's gonna look at a guy who's 7/8ths white and say "Hey there black guy".

The one drop rule was enacted in the USA during slavery because masters raping their female slaves was so common during that time that a large number of slaves were having babies that would look white. So in order to justify enslaving a child that looked white but that came from a slave mother, the rule was enacted that said one drop of black blood means you are black thus can be sold as a slave. The one drop rule no longer applies.

ah ok I wasn't aware of all of that, so what do we do now? Is it just based on looks alone? What about programs, pageants another other black only things, how does one qualify for those? just have to look black?

Yes most people judge you based on how you look.

What about programs, pageants another other black only things, how does one qualify for those? just have to look black?

Yes.
