The United States must turn toward using renewable energy. Renewable energy will cut down on the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) that builds up in the atmosphere. Fred Pearce, author of "Why Bother Going Green?" asserts, "Every year human activities add about 30 billion tonnes of CO2 to the atmosphere, largely through burning fossil fuels but also through destroying natural carbon sinks, such as forests."
