Advertising for tobacco products should be banned: Are advertisements a valuable form of expression?

  • Yes, advertising is free speech.

No, advertisements for tobacco products should not be banned, because that is a valuable free speech issue. It would be understandable to want to ban advertising for tobacco products if tobacco products were illegal. But since they are not, the makers of tobacco should be allowed to bring their message to the people they want to buy cigarettes.

  • Contradicting Our Views

Yes i think advertising anything harmful, and potentially deadly to self, and others should be banned. Although cigarettes are not illegal by allowing this advertisement to be shown we are basically condoning its use. Therefore how can our children who see us allow this advertisement respect, or take heed to our warning as to its danger. We are condrodicting what we teach by allowing what we believe to be wrong to be advertised.
