While these people are making million dollars every month, there are people who are living in the streets because they have no money at all. We should, as a society, stop them before it's going to be too late. Do not let them control you. Having lots of money doesn't mean that they can rule the world. So not okay...
Business executives make way too much money compared to everyone else. They are not in touch with the realities of their workers and the average American person, who struggles to make ends meet. Most of them also collect huge incentives even when the company is not profitable, choosing to limit raises for everyone else to compensate for losses. Something is very wrong with that formula.
Yes, many business executives are making more than they contribute to the company. Business executives make millions of dollars per year and the people that work for them make minimum wage or a little more than that. These executives claim that paying employees more will force them to fire people, then why don't they take a pay cut? When a person makes so much money, they become disconnected from the people on the lower end that are struggling.
The problem with slapping an arbitrary number onto the "too much" question is deciding what that number is. Who decides? The president? Congress? That's asking a bunch of rich guys in suits to decide which of them is going to give up half their fortune, and believe it or not it's happened before. It creates a huge conflict of interest and in general doesn't work. In addition, even if an idealist came to power and managed to resist the temptation of keeping all the money for himself, giving people free money doesn't work either for the very purpose that no one wants to work. In a Socialist state there's no incentive for anyone to work harder than the next guy because both are earning the same amount of money, and so nothing gets done.
Generally speaking in the capitalist system that we live under, it is really dependent on how you earned your fortunes. In some scenarios people genuinely work extremely hard and go through constant failures to reach the point that they are at. But sometimes they get money from their parents without having to do much work. Since the resolution implies that it is referencing to ALL big business executives my answer is no but if it was some I would be more inclined to vote yes.
Big executives are making the money that they deserve because they put the time and effort into their work to deserve what they make. Time is money and they have to put the time into their businesses so that they can get what they deserve out of it. They deserve what they make.
Business executives are not making too much money. They are making what the Board of Directors generally feels is appropriate under the circumstances. The reality is most executives do not make that much money. We are only privy to high profile examples said to us by the media, and only when things go wrong.
