Social opportunities! Books can be very anti social! When watching a movie you can talk to your friends and look back at the movie and you still know what's happening. This is alot harder with books because you have to mark were your up to with your finger and you get really confused
The movies bring the book to life and it sets the scene on what the movie and the book is about. Movies go into more depth than the books do. Movies tells a story that teaches morals and life lessons about real-life situations. They can sometimes solve real world problems.
I like movies because they are more enjoyable and they do not take as much time. And you can see the movies with your friends. And it is a lot easier to visualize. They are just better. They are also a lot cheaper than books. Books can be very expensive.
Movies are undoubtedly more aesthetically pleasing to watch, and assists greatly in the promotion of a book or the globalisation of a story. For example, the 'book' may have been 'better' than the movie, but the book would never have become famous if it wasn't f for the help of its promotion by the film. It also much more accessible to the general population, especially those who flinch at the sight of a book.
In movies you can tell if a character is mad, sad, happy, drunk, and more. In books you only read words. For example: 'By the look on Christi's face, I can tell she was in love with Garry.' from I Don't Want You Go By. Movies just have that vibe everyone loves. Its more relaxing too!
You would never go out and buy sweets and get excited to sit down and read a book but with a film it is not just that you can watch the film, however it is the chat afterwards, the laughing and re-telling. You never do this with a book however a film is more sociable.
I believe that movies are better than books. The first reason I believe this is so is because movies are more visually appealing. Many people do not like books because there are too many words. More people would go to see a movie instead of reading the book. Also, some books are just harder to read for younger audiences, but if they see the movie they may be able to understand it better. An example of this is Harry Potter. The Harry Potter books are very long and sometimes hard to understand; the movies, on the other hand, are much easier to understand and a lot of fun to watch.
Movies are also more appealing for the ears. There is a lot of music and speaking in a movie. Many people enjoy the sounds of another person's voice.
Movies also create more job opportunities. There are many different aspects with creating a movie. There is a producer, a writer, a director, actors, makeup artists, etc. At this point in time, the world needs jobs. With more jobs, the world's economy becomes better. With books, there are only a small amount of jobs per book.
Also in movies, there are a lot of special effects. Special effects can help the mind see something better than they imagined in the first place. For example, there could be a car crash in a book, and you could just see one car crashing into another one, but, in a movie you could see one car crash into another and blow up. This just looks and sounds more exciting. Special effects help the imagination grow.
Movies will help us understand more about story because if your not good at reading you can watch a movies and you will understand all of the events and solution all in those films. Movies can watch with friends, family, and have fun together. If you dont know the words in the book , you have to translate it and maybe you will get lost.
I am dislexic, therefore i find it very hard to read books, however movies are simple for me to understand and consume. I just tried to submit this there, but it told me i needed a minimum of fifty words, which is outragous to be frank! Like you cannot see the Hunger Games girls raw beauty through the book, well i'm assuming this, however if there is a picture book version of the book, i vote books are better than movies!
1) Books are often written in academic or difficult to understand language while a film shows all significant facts in a manner accessible to all viewers. Reading is almost always boring: some people fall asleep; some can’t imagine the given situation others prefer to go and see a movie instead of it. Also, some books are just harder to read for younger audiences, but if they see the movie they may get the idea better and enjoy the special effects, what also helps the imagination to develop. An example of this is Harry Potter. The Harry Potter books are very long and sometimes include complicated words; the movies, on the other hand, are much easier to understand and a lot of fun to watch, they are more appealing for the ears. There is a lot of music and speaking in a movie.
Movies are enjoyable, but they are generally over in a couple of hours. Books provide more explanation of the events that are being depicted by the author. One can take their time while reading and have a longer period of enjoyment. Reading books also improves literary skills which can be very useful.
No, I have to disagree that movies are better books. Books are an absolutely amazing place to get lost in your imagination. Books have a crazy magical way of pulling you in. And, as a reader, everything is up to your imagination. Hollywood isn't telling you what the characters and scenes look like. You have the freedom to create that in your mind.
There is no way movies are better than books. Movies make you zone out when you watch them, and they do not convey the same messages as books. If a movie is made from a book, the director almost never portray it correctly and it therefore ruins the book, whether you have read it or not.
Except music. Soundtracks can be pretty awesome.
But besides that, movies are for the lazy and unimaginative. They have their place, sure, and I enjoy one every now and then...But when I'm looking for quality entertainment, I turn to books. Novels provide much more detail than movies can manage, thus developing deeper, more complex characters. They also provide much more entertainment than movies from the simple fact of being longer.
Books also allow you to form an emotional connection with the characters that is completely missing in movies. I have walked out of movies (that I enjoyed!) and not been able to even recall the names of the lead characters.
And for the social argument? You can't talk in a movie any more than you can while reading (at least, not without getting shushed). And while you can chat with friends about a movie, books simply have more material, and if your group of friends all read, visiting a bookstore can be a great social outing.
There's also a much greater variety available, since they're usually cheaper to produce than movies.
Books are definitely better than movies. In books your imagination is required which can take the text in the book to a whole new level while in movies there is only the picture on the screen which only allows you to think in a limited area.
Books help relax your brain rather than stimulate them which helps you to go to sleep. This is why many people choose to read before bed.
Reading also expands your vocabulary and helps you to become a smarter person while movies require no effort to watch.
Another great point is that books explain and have so much detail. They can capture the readers attention and have them reading for hours because the have an unlimited amount of pages they can write on. Most movies only go for 1 and a half to 3 hours which explains why many lines or chapters in a book can be left out.
A book can last for days and is something for the reader to do in their spare time, and you get more use out of books than movies. Movies only last a few hours and are over and done quickly which is a big waste of money.
Yes, there are many great movies to watch, but as Dr. Seuss said in his famous book 'I can read with my eyes shut', “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
One important reason was that in books it was easier to figure out what was going on in the character’s heads. But in films, they have to use voice over for this effect and at most times it won’t fit the scenery, therefore at the most times they just simply skip the part when the character was thinking and instead putting it into action, which was not so good. In books, writing the thoughts was nearly the most easy thing to do. It was even possible to write an entire book that was all about what occurred in the main character’s head. This was impossible for a movie.
When reading a good book, the images that was being described comes naturally in your head. But in movies, those bad effects and techniques will give you a bad impression on the story. You will create the character’s actions, their look and voice just as how you liked. Everything will come flawlessly in your head but when these books were adapted for the screen, they didn't live up to the expectations.
When directors cast the roles for films, the actor or actress inevitably does not look the way that most readers of the book had pictured the character. Everyone will imagine different characters differently from everyone else. At most of the times, movies were presented by all these beautiful looking people, even for those characters that weren't supposed to look so nice. The only thing they do was rubbing dirt on their faces to make them look dowdy. This drags away the personality and the impression people were getting from the character.
Books are awesome because when you read them its like your in another world and your in the book as the character and there good for research and information or info but books are good and some people love books!!!
I love books and many other people do to you don't have to be good at reading to read books there for any kind of person
I believe reading books provides you with a very calming environment. Yes, movies consist of sound effects and visualizes the thing for you. But, books are very very important. First of all, the basic reasons i.E enhances vocabulary, improves mental skill and makes you smarter and so on. Honestly, when you're watching a movie, there are no words to describe the characters' inner emotions to you. (Unless there's a VERY VERY VERY good actor) but words will always have a more powerful impact on you. Rather than watching movies, which just requires you to stare on the screen and look at the characters, whatever...Books therefore help you expand your imagination. You can live in your own little world with that book. BLA BLA BLAH!
These are the many million reasons I've read all across the internet provided by people.
Personally, I love watching movies! Yes, they are visually appealing and have a more greater effect. But that is only when watching!
When you are reading, it stimulates your brain activity and you are able to take things in, in a more proper way. If you watch movies as a hobby, then why not start reading books as a hobby too? If you love using the internet, why not go ahead, pick up a book and read about completely different people and different situations? It's such an amazing feeling when you get to travel back to the 19th century and read the many works of these authors, you never knew existed! You get exposed to words which are so mature and so rich and elaborate. You can outshine others that way. You know, I mainly read books to boast..And that is what keeps me going :p
“There are two motives for reading a book; one, that you enjoy it; the other, that you can boast about it.” ― Bertrand Russell.
LOL. Enjoy:D I LOOVE BOOKS!
I believe that books are better as when you read you are opening up a whole world of imagination. You are also educating yourself, sometimes you don't even realise you are doing so. Whilst reading you are always learning new words and also new styles of writing. This is a huge advantage as it will really help us in our English lessons. Books are portable, you can take them wherever you are going. It doesn't have to be a physical book, although they are the best, you can now read on tablets, kindles, e-readers or even if you don't enjoy actually reading or find it difficult to do so you can listen to an audiobook. There is no excuse for people not to read!
Books let you use your imagination and it gives way more detail! It helps you with your vocabulary skills. You know what the character is thinking in more detail. You can read what they're feeling and relate to it. Sometimes the movie disappoints you because it's not what the book is at all!!
