Are opinion polls truly representative of the outcomes in first-past-the-post general elections?

  • The current voting system (first past the post) is flawed, because

It encourages voting based on what others would vote. People who would want to vote for the Lib Dems, for example, would say so in the opinion polls, but vote for a different party because they are confident that they won't get the majority. The two main parties get much less coverage in the polls than they get on election day.
