Can you ever completely remaster an early 90s movie that came out in Dolby Stereo (or Spectral Recording analog) without THX?

  • Unless you use THX, you will always be able to tell when it came out

Many old movies of the time that came out in Dolby Stereo, Ultra-stereo, Dolby Stereo Spectral Recording will always leave hints of its time, even with digitalization efforts. "Rain Man," the DVD, still looks like it was made in 1988, just with some minor adjustments in picture and sound. Same with "The Untouchables." Only with a pure remastering program or THX can there be a real effective change in quality.
