CTE is a degenerative condition that can be caused by repeated head trauma. CTE can lead to memory loss, dementia and erratic behavior, though it can only be officially diagnosed by direct examination of the brain after death. I will tell you what is alarming and parents know the health of their kids are being affected and they don't care. There are parents who are selfish and uneducated to accept the consequences of concussions.
Football players know the risk of the sport in which they play. This does not mean that improvements should not be researched for safety, but the sport should not be discontinued because of the high rate of CTE. Many sports have injuries that occur because of the nature of the sport, but unless all sports are canceled until all high risk injuries can be mostly prevented, then football should not be canceled. If the players are willing to risk the injury in order to play, then the players should be allowed to play.
No, college football should not be banned until better prevention measures are discovered, but the rules should be changed. Players should only be able to hit opponents in certain areas. If college football is banned, too many people will protest. The rules should simply be adjusted to help a player's health.
