Do government regulations on social media companies do more good or harm? Yes for good and no for harm.

  • The First Amendment protects individuals from unnecessary censorship.

    Many social media regulations are based upon the First Amendment. Even though, Social media platforms are private companies and can censor what people post on their websites as they see fit they still must follow government regulations. Some have expressed concern that these sites are not doing enough to counter violent or false speech. At the same time, Many argue that the platforms are unfairly banning and restricting access to potentially valuable speech.
