  • It's thee best sport out there!

It is essentially a mix of beauty pageant, Ballet, Tap, Freestyle! Like, You can really see each of those elements in Irish dance! Like seriously, You have over 200 competitors in your age group alone, And than, You have literally thooousands of other competitors outside your age group, From all over the world! Even as far as China, Africa, Japan central Asia! And there is on average about, Literally 10 thousand dancers competing against you! No other dance form or any sport for that matter, Has that much eeextreme competition! And dresses can cost from any where from free- a whopping 5-10 grand!

  • Yes Irish Dance is a sport

The history of Irish Dance is an ancient sport. A competition that has been occuring for eons. It is a non combat form of competiton. Do the research and you will find that the engagement to outmaneuver with a more creative body movement is by definition a sport. It is merely non contact.

  • NO it belongs in a dance competition not sports.

They have dance competitions with very serious athletes. You will be a better fit there with like minded people. I see some dance groups where they throw people in the air. It is not easy work but I would not consider it a sport because the point system does not exist. It is more abstract and even gymnastics is abstract but it can somewhat be evaluated by difficulty.

  • I don't agree

Irish dance might be hard but isnt the hardest. Maybe it is but i cannot relate because i am of the male gender. I belive that shuffle ball is the hardest sport but maybe irish dance is. Every suburban girl does irish dance which is another reason its not that hard

  • Can't be considered as a sport

Just merely dancing on a floor with a particular dressing can not be said as a sport. If that is done then there are many dance forms around the globe which are more hard to do so should they all go and participate in the Olympics and should Olympics start giving medals on dancing. Then it would be more like a World Dance Championship rather than the Olympics

  • Nto a sport.

Like it or not, It's not a sport. It's dancing. The performers rarely even move their upper body as the vast majority of it is done with a straight back and arms at their side. You really can't call it the hardest or fanciest. Even cheer leading and ice dancing are far more difficult and ballet is far more fancy and difficult. Seeing that you only tend to see them in local Irish festivals and St. Patrice's Day events, They can't be all that rewarding financially or for fame. Same with expense as there isn't much for preparation outside of a costume and tap shoes. As far as dance, Ballet would have it hands down in all categories but even that is not considered a sport much less being Olympic worthy.
