Although the Religious Right is a sizable voting group, the reason that the Republicans have lost the last two presidential elections are that the are not in touch with the majority of voters' outlooks on social issues.

I also think it is important for politicians to realize that the people who vote for them follow varying religions and aren't necessarily interested in their politicians religious views. I vote for someone based on their platforms and beliefs, not what church they are affiliated with.
