They are two extremely intelligent countries.
My thing is, America, we need to be ok with not being number one. The UK stopped being number one and just focused on its people. Nobody in the UK is fighting for its economy to be number one again. They're just happy that they're fed and ok
China most definitely will. There are already major indicators that predict that China will maintain its place as the world's largest economy up to and including 2031. India will grow as well to take a foothold.
Japan is an entirely different culture and country than China. But they have huge technological companies. I believe Japan can create the next Apple and produce the next Bill Gates. They don't even have to be the next version of an American CEO or company. They already have their own superpowers of technology: Nintendo & Shigeru Miyamoto, Sony, Toshiba....As well as the automobile industry: Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, etc.
Yes, I think that their economies will keep growing and one day be greater than that of the US, because the world continues to go further and further into a technology era, and these two countries are the leaders of things like phones and computers, and other electronic devices we use.
Japan and China will surpass the United States very soon if they have not yet. We do not even need to look at the theories of IQ and Wealth of Nations. It is obvious they are both doing much better than the United States is. We need to fix our education system, and our working environment.
Japan and China will not surpass the United States as an economic power due to these reason. IQ is an important factor in a nation, but the important factor here is culture. Japan has a rich culture and many people wish to just visit and check it out today. China is smart and also has a beautiful culture making it a possibility. But I do not agree with the theories in this book.
First of all, lots of Chinese have animosity towards Japan. Haven't you been paying attention to the anti-Japanese protests that have been happening over the Diaoyu/Senkaku islands dispute? The military of both countries have been constantly keeping an eye on each other over this dispute and China is still bitter over Japanese imperialism during World War II. It makes absolutely no sense to group them together.
That aside, China will indeed surpass the US as the world's largest economy, but the US will always remain one of the largest economies in the world. By 2050, even India won't have an economy larger than the US. While indeed we will lose our standing as the largest economy, we will still remain an economic superpower.
As for Japan, it is impossible. They are the 3rd largest economy, but India will overtake them. Second of all, Japan lacks the population and size to even come close to overtaking the US. Japan is a fairly small country, slightly smaller than California, and therefore, they don't have as much resources as massive countries like the US and China.
I don't think Japan and China will surpass the United States as the world's top economies based upon the theories of 'IQ and the Wealth of Nations. China could perhaps do this is they are able to squash their large poverty problems with the masses, but it is not guaranteed. And Japan's nuclear problem will probably stop them from becoming a top economy.
I do not believe Japan and China will surpass the United States as the world's top economies based upon the theories of IQ and the Wealth of Nations. I believe the book is highly biased and contains a lot of mis-information. Secondly, given China's large population, it seems fitting that they would surpass us, regardless of IQ's. Thirdly, Japan's recent problems indicate that they will not surpass us.
