• Yes, the color of your skin does affect you in court.

America's justice system affects people of color differently than white people. People of color are afforded special treatment in court because judges are scared that they will be seen as racist. This leads to people of color receiving especially light sentences which then leads them to commit more crime because they didn't learn their lesson.

  • Sad, but true.

To me, a court case is all about one thing: the seriousness of the case and if the defendant comes off guilty or not. However, there are racists out there, and unfortunately, I think the color of ones skin could factor in to how they come off or present themselves to certain people. If someone being accused of murder, comes off and talks like they could be a criminal, that may affect them negatively.
