Does the media really have the power to manipulate people?

Asked by: MatheusMz
  • Even the CIA understood this (Operation Mockingbird)

The media controls what the population views in most places. If you controlled the news and everything that was reported, you wouldd be capable of tipping most if not all situations in your favor. There would be little retaliation (although, there is more now thanks to the "fake news" slogan spreading) and due to your control of the media, you could accuse foreign news companies or independent reporters which state something different as simply spreading foreign propaganda.

If the Media can control the flow of information, then they can control what people believe. If a certain ideology is pushed consistently within the popular media, the ideas within that ideology become more mainstream. This is why it's important for there to be different opinions not be stifled on the internet and the media should allow dissenting voices on their programs.
