The EU needs to take the health of its citizens. As such, it should end subsidies for tobacco growers. Perhaps other crops are more appropriate such as algae or switchgrass for biofuels, corn, soy or myriads of other cash crops that could benefit from government subsidies. Tobacco growers shouldn't need such a boost.
The European Union should stop subsidizing the tobacco industry because, frankly, there is no reason to subsidize it. Tobacco is a profitable crop, and smokers are willing to pay any price for it. By subsidizing the tobacco industry, the European Union is giving money to cancer causers, when they already make enough money as it is. The wasting of money on these subsidies should stop immediately.
