Just as the creator of the Game of Thrones reference the presidential race as "winter is coming", then its the same way that spring will appear after the frost. This is because, people are finding it hard to come in terms with the win of Donald Trump. But in a few days to come, we will have to accept this and move on.
I think he's right. But we have a system of government built to allow for periods of change. Unfortunately for those of us who are dreading a Trump presidency, we're probably going to have to suffer through a long cycle of winter. Hopefully the Dems can become the party of no long enough to slow down some of the spreading frost.
There have been hard times in the last four years. Ever since Obama said the police acted "stupidly," there has been increased violence against the police. One person shot several law enforcement officers in Dallas. Trump will be able to calm people down and temper the violence and tension. Society will be less volatile after a few years.
It is my belief that U.S. politics will continue to be polarized in the near future. Democrats, shocked by their loss in the presidential race and their failure to retake the Senate, are likely to vigorously oppose any policies proposed by Republicans, similarly to the way that Republicans resisted Democratic policies throughout the Obama administration. The fierce rhetoric exchanged throughout the 2016 campaign season will remain in the memories of both voters and legislators for some time, making compromise more difficult.
