• How is it not corcieve?

It coerces even the wrongfully accused to waive their 5th and 6th amendment rights even if they have a very winnable defense because the prosecutor offers them 10 years or less when if the same defendant insisted on taking his (or possibly her) case to trial he (or possibly she) could get life without parole. That's an offer no defendant could ever say no to no matter how little evidence the prosecution has. This is an infringement on 6th amendment rights if they receive so much more prison time if they are convicted at trial vs accepting a plea deal. In my opinion the sentencing discount for a guilty plea shouldn't be anywhere near what it is. Weather the sentencing should be closer to the plea bargian or the sentencing after a trial conviction is a whole nother ball game.
