Hello! Guys I'm student ,so I have to do a research about Islam. How do you think about Islam? Is Islam peaceful? Thx

  • It's a religion

I am a Muslim in the Nation Of Islam. Islam is a religion that does not promote violence. All those terrorists who claim to be Muslim, do not represent the religion of Islam. I think they are just using the name of Allah as an excuse to blow things up. Islam is a peaceful religion and I don't understand why people are afraid of Islam. Islam is a religion, it's what a group of people believe(including me), not a terrorist group. People who call themselves Muslims and then go and terrorize others people are not true Muslims, they just say they are.

  • Islam is religion of peace but not passive

Let us close our eyes and think who is invading other countries and kills childrens women etc, GOD didnt let human dictate the rules of war because we are going to have what happened in busnia ,saraivo, iraq, afganistan, palastine etc, quran was there 1400 years ago why we just started to hear the terrorism thing!! Its a justification to invade muslim countries beside 80% of extremist victim are muslims,we need to read the history of islam ( its easy to wash christian people brain or ex christian because they dont read their own bible and been told by the church not to question their belifes thats why the read verses out of context) all wars started after prophet muhammed pbuh and comanions were perscuted for 10 years by pagan people in mecca and after the prophet and his friends lift there homes, money all belongings to have freedom to worship one GOD and the pagans didnt leave them alone they followed them with army to fight them at that time GOD revealed the verses of jihad(self defense), verse 8:12 was for the angels because they didnt know how to fight and GOD instructed them
Why they followed them because they didnt want people become muslim and stop going to makkah and worship their idols that were build around the kabba(house of GOD ,black box) since they used to gain alot of money from the tribes.
Even after 10 years from all these self defense wars when the prophet and his friend were vectoreus and the pagan people were scared tgat he will kill him he actually forgave them
Almighty GOD is the only one worthy of worship but u can read surah 109 to know that islam never force people to have another beliefs there is 1 million qobtic christan in Egypt and different muslim countries.

  • I do in fact believe Islam is a peaceful religion.

The problem is that the minority of Muslims that are radical make the good Muslims look bad. Then again, depending upon the severity of following, some Muslim communities have flawed social structures, like how women are objectified. As for the Quran, some of the teachings are vague on where they stand in terms of violence.

  • Islam is a peaceful religion that does not support terrorisme.

Firstly i would like to say that if you are influenced that islam isn't a peaceful religion, you are getting your sources wrong or have misunderstood what it's all about. Its teaching rely on more than just a Koran but hadits and tafseers are included. It is not only a religion although a way of life. It covers many aspects such as how we sleep, eat, think, behave and treat people in the most correct way possible. The prophet mohammed PBUH himself that even all acts of violence against animals are forbidden. Let alone violent acts against human beings.

  • Yes, Islam is peaceful. Jihadism isn't

Even though Islam has violent words and phrases in its holy text, saying that this is why Islam is violent and to be done with it is not reasonable. Islam has the same violent phrases as other religions such as Christianity and Judaism. That being said, recent terrorist attacks have spurred Islamophobia, with people hating Muslims for killing others. First of all, this is actually not spurred from their religion, but from an extremist view of Islam, which is Jihadist and not supported by most Muslims around the world. Also, you have to keep in mind the fact that the most violent text stated by others in other votes are not supported by the Islamic community. So, to summarize, Islam as a culture is no more violent than other religions, and the Muslims as a people are not supportive of the recent attacks demonstrated by the extremists, however much anybody might say they are all guilty.

  • It is how one interprets Islam that determines whether it is peaceful or not.

It would be erroneous and hypocritical to state that because news of a religion's extremists are becoming more and more prevalent, that the religion is more unethical than the other mainstream religions that have also committed crimes against humanity. Almost every religion that has originated at least a thousand years ago has advocated things that would be immoral in modern day society (The Bible advocated the murder of homosexuals, genocide, slavery, and sexism, as an example), and every religion has their fanatics (even Buddhism, which forbids all forms of violence, even in self defense, has had issues concerning genocide in Myanmar). Concerning your question, A good majority of Muslims are peaceful. They do not want war, as most of humanity does. They are just like you and me, only with a different set of beliefs and cultures. Only a small amount of nut jobs want to revert back to older practices that had been shrugged off a long time ago (Terrorists are called "radical", because radical means "advocating or based on thorough or COMPLETE political or social change; representing or supporting an extreme or progressive section of a political party", or "wants change that is different from the norm") The original Islam, just like it's fellow religions, were not peaceful. The modern Islam, just like it's fellow religions, are now peaceful. We only see it as "less peaceful" because it is different, and because the extremists in Islam are given limelight in the news.

  • Jihad means war

It cannot be peaceful by definition. Islam wants to take over the world and impose its views on everyone. Mosques are sponsored by Saudi with its perverse take on Islam. What rights do Christians have in Moslem countries - hardly any. Yet they shout that they are discriminated against. Unacceptable

  • No. It is “NOT” peaceful.

The Quran, is self evident. What individual people believe has been used as an excuse to pacify Islam AS peaceful. The point isn’t what individuals believe .... It is what the “WORD” dictates.

There are Christian organizations even now who are REJECTING the word of God in light of THIER OWN beliefs. Wanting to accept LGBT into congregations.

Here’s s the thing. And if your honesty you must admit, it’s really the “ONLY “ thing that matters. God has placed before mankind His word, having studied scriptures for multiple years and with great interest, I have not a single time, come upon a scripture stating my right to “deviate” from its directives.

I have however read many scriptures which describes with graphic detail, the residence of those, who opt “not” to heed His warning.

So in conclusion, those persons who ... As was mentioned, have their OWN personal prospectives ... “DO NOT” serve god at all ... They merely profess to be something their not. If you serve God ... You don’t ignore His mandates, only the nonbelievers do that.

Really don’t matter, Islam is false. All who worship Islam, will be in Hell just as if they served no gods, or thousands of gods.

  • Islam is not peaceful

No, Islam is most certainly not a religion of peace. Here are some important quotations from the Quran itself to prove this assertion (now don't get me wrong, I don't necessarily agree with the source website entirely, I'm just quoting it.):

"Quran (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them" No reasonable person would interpret this to mean a spiritual struggle. The targets of violence are "those who disbelieve" - further defined in the next verse (13) as "defy and disobey Allah." Nothing is said about self-defense. In fact, the verses in sura 8 were narrated shortly after a battle provoked by Muhammad, who had been trying to attack a lightly-armed caravan to steal goods belonging to other people. "

"Quran (8:39) - "And fight with them until there is no more fitna (disorder, unbelief) and religion is all for Allah" Some translations interpret "fitna" as "persecution", but the traditional understanding of this word is not supported by the historical context (See notes for 2:193). The Meccans were simply refusing Muhammad access to their city during Haj. Other Muslims were allowed to travel there - just not as an armed group, since Muhammad had declared war on Mecca prior to his eviction. The Meccans were also acting in defense of their religion, as it was Muhammad's intention to destroy their idols and establish Islam by force (which he later did). Hence the critical part of this verse is to fight until "religion is only for Allah", meaning that the true justification of violence was the unbelief of the opposition. According to the Sira (Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 324) Muhammad further explains that "Allah must have no rivals.""

  • By the mere structure of it, it is not peaceful

As with most religions, there are many ways to interpret the words of the Koran and its associated documents. Unfortunately, this book is far too easily taken as divisive, supremacist, and meant to start war.

As well, given its relative youth, the power in the cultures it dominates is still at the social level, with no tolerance for other ideologies. The infidel is not the equal of the holy man in the eyes of Islam. Like the other dogmas, it sticks to the idea of judging people based on the imaginary friend they put faith in vice the content of their character.

Looking at the actions of Islamic groups in the world as well as the kinds of laws and social structures existent in predominantly or mandatedly Islamic countries, it is quite obvious that it is a divisive ideology that does not recognize the simple and straightforward human rights that western society embraces.

  • Muslims are peaceful, Islam is not.

I hear many people saying, "don't blame Islam for what its radicals do. They don't represent Islam!". What this tells me is that overall, the practitioners of Islam are peaceful people, in spite of their doctrine. The Qu'ran explicitely condones violence against infidels (non-muslims) and apostates (those who left islam) in multiple verses. Muhammad wages war against many groups of people, with no reproach from Allah. The doctrines of Islam are not peaceful, therefore Islam is not peaceful, even if its people are. The same can be said of Christianity.
