The answer is simply no. Look at how Joseph Stalin ruled and what he did. He is only one example, there are many more. He was in charge of a huge country and he pretty much decided who lives and who dies. He killed people for no reason other than his own dislike / distrust. Why would we want that?
No, in a democratic government the people's opinions and viewpoints are heard and well accounted for. As a nation, we get to decide who will rule our nation, and who we will listen to in our time of need. In an autocratic government, the ruler has absolute power meaning they make all of the rules and decisions and the people have to obey them.
