Having homosexual tenancies is not a bad thing, we can't control our thoughts or what pops into our heads. The sinning begins when that individual decides to act on those thoughts. For example the thought can pop into your head to shoplift an item, but until you take the item out of the store without paying you haven't broken the law.
Folks haven't been reading their Bibles. The Bible is very clear, homosexuality is a sin and is detestable in the eyes of the Lord. It is not up to people to determine what the word means unless it is unclear what God means and it needs to be interpreted. Homosexuality is not one of those cases as the word is very clear in it's prohibition of such unnatural behavior.
But since Jesus died for our sins, they still got a shot to get to heaven if They stay kind hearted. As a normal catholic, I would try to avoid these conversations since they usually lead to arguments. I'm not homophobic, I just find the thought of two guys kissing gross.
In the bible God tells us multiple times that being homo is a sin. Homo's respond well he also tells you to love us! True, however he does say that we have the choice whether or not we choose to support you, I say not so anyone who tries to force me to be politically correct on this, shut up.
The term "sin" refers to the act of falling short of the perfection of God. Sin is relative only to religion, primarily christianity. And the Bible explains multiple times, in both the old and new testament, that homosexuality is a sin, an abomination, disgraceful in the eyes of God, etc. The fact that the ratio is 20-80 on this poll right now is absurd. All of you arrogant opinionated liberals need to pull your head out of your asses and realize that the question asked here is whether its a sin. Not whether they should be allowed to be married or have equal rights. This shouldn't even be debatable. Homosexuality is a sin just like premarital sex, lust, stealing, or any other sin. And God loves homsexuals just like murders and adulterers etc, as do I. But this is simply absurd.
Christianity and several other religions, you can be condemned for homosexual acts. In fact, the "benign" god can convict you simply of thought crime.
But; don't misunderstand me. I'm an atheist and anti-theist so whether or not you are gay is none of my business and does not effect me whatsoever.
The reason I voted yes is because the definition of a sin is an act committed against god's will. And depending on the god you worship, it can certainly be a sin.
In Leviticus 20:13 it states, "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads". Just by reading that statement anyone can infer that being homosexual is a sin. Being gay is their choice, but believing in God and homosexual is sinning.
Have you dim wits not read your bible? It clearly states that homosexuality is in fact a sin. It is an obimanation to god. I'm not one to judge but when there's facts that need to be said, I have to say it. And don't come at me with that "I don't have a choice. I was born like that" crap. No u idiot. You do have choice and you choose to be gay. Stop saying that so people can have sympathy for you.
1: 24-27 "So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other's bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things that God created instead of the Creator Himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men , instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves they penalty they deserved."
1:30-32 "They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless and have no mercy. They know God's justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too." (New Living Translation https://www.biblegateway.com/versions/New-Living-Translation-NLT-Bible/)
ALWAYS remember: Christ came for us so that we may partake in the grace of the Living God.
Although I would normally wouldn't be voting against homosexuality (I support LGBT rights), since this debate is defined as a sin, it has to be based on what the Bible says. Chapter 18 and 20 of the book Leviticus clearly states the following: "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination." and "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them." Thus, seeing it has to be based on the Bible, being gay is technically a sin. However, I do support LGBT rights. Just because I voted yes does not make me a homophobe.
Unless I am mistaken, the Bible only makes references to homosexuality in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, there is no explicit reference to homosexuality, so it becomes slightly unclear whether this is a permanent concept or a period specific one, like kosher and hair length restrictions. So in essence, we don't know whether being gay is explicitly a sin under the New Covenant. The greatest commandment, however is to love God, and the second greatest is to love our neighbor. So The reality is that Jesus would be more concerned with the way His followers ostracize homosexuals than He would be about homosexuality itself.
Being gay is the way someone is, they didn't choose to be that way. Religious extremists such as Westboro Baptist Church argue that God hates homosexuals, which is ironic because it is my belief that God himself made certain individuals gay, lesbian, bisexual and/or transgender. God created all things, but it was man who decided which creations are abominations.
Sin is what someone else has determined to be wrong and usually uses the concept of an invisible god to say its wrong. There is nothing wrong with being a homophobe as you have the right. But to say being gay is a sin you need to prove a lot (i.E. Why you are saying that) before you can claim it.
Being gay is a completely natural part of life.
People misinterpret as a "sin", because they are honestly idiots.
They don't realise that the bible was written by foolish humans hundreds of years ago. There is no proof at all, that "god" even exists. No legitimate proof, or evidence. In my opinion, it's all just a big fairy-tale. Didn't jesus say "love everyone?" Well, where is this so-called love...? People express hate. If you are religious, good for you. You should follow the practices of your god when he says "love everyone". Don't hate people. Isn't hating a sin too?!
If hell is indeed real, I will laugh at all those people who go to hell over hating a gay person. Serves them right. People should learn to accept another's lifestyle.
Don't become one of those close-minded losers who can't accept someone else for who they are. Being gay is a completely natural part of life. Everyone deserves love, even people of the same gender.
Learn to love one-another like your "god" says to do, otherwise you yourself will go to hell for wrongfully hating another person.
Gayness is only a sin if you confiscate taxpayer dollars in order to artificially reproduce. A gay persons genetics/natural genes, are that so they may not reproduce, AKA Darwinism. NATURAL SELECTION, the opposite of making children for gay folk. Just accept the fact you are gay, and do not pollute the gene pool with your dead end, anti nature, genetic selfishness.
Being gay is not a sin. That is like saying that being heterosexual is a sin: you cannot commit a sin simply by BEING. Sins are committed by performing immoral deeds; that is, one has to have actually done something. According to the Bible, homosexual behavior is sinful, but a gay person is still in the state of grace as long as he or she does not act upon his or her homosexual desires and impulses.
Its just more control freaks trying to stick their noses where it does not belong, as Homosexuality hurts no one, only homophobes who want to control others lives and feel grossed out. If they dont like it, dont look. If they dont want to get into a gay relationship, then dont. But just shut up you lowlife homophobes
Although you have your catholic beliefs, gay is NOT a sin in your bible somewhere it says something along the lines of 'don't judge people'. Do people being gay really affect your life? Do you know people who are gay and actually care about what you think about them? It's like saying being born was a sin!
Being gay is not a sin people who treat the different has no way to tall they are just being the way that they were made they are humans just like us they breathe just like us they are just like us why treat them different you guys are just being bully's they are just like you and I normal they may like the same gender or maybe both genders it doesn't matter what they do the only thing you should worry about is what you do. If you have something to say about it keep it to yourself because they aren't goanna let you bother them because they are gonna live there life like it was another normal day.
Throughout the history of Judaism (The Old First Monolithic Religion) never states that love between mutual sex is a sin, because it hasn't been done before. God's rule (Golden Rule or The Ten Commandments ) never says anything about this. The whole idea of the word sin came from this religion. It explains how it is immoral. This problem started off in the C.E (Current Era), which was after B.C.E or B.C. God hasn't sent anymore messages since Muhammad. How could this be a sin, when it was never stated it was?
"Just being factual... I don't like religion or the idea of two species having homosexual love, but we do have our rights".
