No, scams always have a hidden aspect to them.

Bitcoin is a pure information system and 100% open source. Basically it is a simulation of gold, but without the all the baggage that gold comes with (not seizable, heavy or counterfeitable). Bitcoin sets the bar very high as a currency and due to no middle men the transaction costs are very low. Ignore it at your peril.

It is a joke, US government needs to shut it down.

The government can't shutdown bitcoin - not without shutting down the whole internet and seizing everyone's computer - good luck with that!! Hah!

The US does not control the world. If the US government shuts it down, then they'll just be left behind in the dark ages while the rest of the world prospers from embracing the next step in technological advancement.

What you're basically saying is something like, "Email is a trick, a scam. People fall for spam all the time. The Postal Service needs to shut it down."

The US does control what it allows within its borders, and bitcoin will never be allowed in any major way. No banks or big retail stores accept or will ever accept it. The biggest account is the FBI from
drug raids.

I looked through the source code, it is a scam.

Bit coin is not open, or so many criminals wouldn't use it! Plus if you own a bit coin miner you could generate as many free bitcoins as you want!

Harrytruman, Bitcoin is in technical terms, open source, which means that every line of code is able to be viewed by the public. Every transaction that has ever happened in the Bitcoin network can also be viewed by everyone. Some criminals use Bitcoin because all you have to do to receive and send bitcoins is to have an internet connection and a bitcoin wallet (software that allows you to receive and send bitcoins) and you don't need to give up any personal information like your name, social security number, credit history, etc in order to do so. Also mining does not let you obtain free bitcoins. Mining is actually pretty expensive because not only do you have to pay for a bitcoin miner, you also have to pay for the electricity required for that miner. Additionally another aspect of bitcoin mining is called difficulty, which means the more miners that compete for the 25 bitcoins awarded to miners every 10 minutes, the more difficult the math problems are that miners have to solve in order to obtain those bitcoins. It has come to the point that you need a warehouse full of the latest bitcoin miners with decently priced electricity in order to live off of bitcoin mining alone. There is also a limit to the number of bitcoins that will ever be created and that is 21 million. If it was so easy for everyone to get as many "free bitcoins as you want" then the price of a bitcoin would be pennies.
