    I've been running XC for years now and I've become Team Captain. In order to get to this point I've been very competitive. Yet, at no point have I ever felt hostility to my opponents in the races. However, there are those that have an innate sense of being over competitive. This over competitiveness can lead to hostility. To conclude, the problem of hostility lies in the character of the participants rather than being innate in the nature of competition.
