• If Christianity is peace than Islam is peaceful too

You cant just pick out the bad things. Look at the good things.

    Kill Fortunetellers
A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)

And then i can make the Quran look good

    2) No one should be forced to believe in Islam
“There is no compulsion where the religion is concerned.” (Holy Quran: 2/ 256)

“O You who believe! Enter absolutely into peace (Islam). Do not follow in the footsteps of satan. He is an outright enemy to you.” (Holy Quran: 2, 208)

All relgions have some bad stuff in them. Look at the overall message in each book not cherry pick a verse or two

  • The name proves it

"Islam" is an old form of the word "salaam"-peace. It was started to unify the warring tribes of Arabia under one faith so that they would never again fight the wars that they had, which it accomplished with the same effect that Christianity had in Europe: moderating wars, and making them less destructive.

  • Yes Islam is a peaceful religion.

Actually, about the holy qur'an things, qur'an doesn't promotes violents,evil..Etc. But the holy quran promotes good things, like help people that in need, don't mock people, don't drink alcohol, don't hurt women, don't steal, don't kill people especially innocent people.
About the boston, paris, bali bomb etc. i want to ask all of you about it, this bombing things, are all the moslem did those??? Of course not, you want a proof? Many moslem people just stayed in home when the bombing things, took a walk, did their usual activities, didn't know about the bombing things. Just tiny minority people did that, so you cannot judges their religion is a terorist religion, make a war, promotes violents, you can't my friend, you can't. So thats why, islam is a peaceful religion.

  • Please stop cutting vrses from quran and take comeplete ones

Quran is peaceful try reading it and don't listen to me or anyone most people think that quran is not peaceful because this miss interpret it because of the differences between arabic and english there is science in especially for explaining verses of quran which is so deep and endless if you search for explanation of verses you will find that the meaning you will understand from the verse itself could be way different from the real explanation itself lots of scientitst (islam scientists)(Imaam) dedicate their lives to explain verses of quran so we could fully understand them..
Not just take a verse or two and wave them around while misunderstanding the full picture

  • ISIS is NOT Islam

If any of you out there have actually met and actual Muslim, you will realize they are not bad people. They just have a different faith. In fact, it's not even that. If Islamic countries were richer and Christian countries were poorer, than I bet that Muslims would be doing as little terrorism as Christians are now and Christians would be doing as much terrorism as Muslims are now. Not that it's that much. Okay so 9/11 and what just happened in France is really bad, but in 2013, more Americans died from toddlers than Muslims. In reality, if Muslims were as well educated as we were, there would be much less terrorism. Also if they had better resources they would kick ISIS out of their territories. This is how ISIS gains territory. By providing resources, law, and education to people who don't have any of that. Some people flee. Some people can't flee. Some people join ISIS. Some people make the best of a bad situation. In any case, by accepting so few refuges, America is indirectly killing a bunch of Syrians. The poor wealthy countries near Syria are accepting way more Syrians than us. Okay, so maybe I've gone a bit off topic. I'm reading the arguments for the no side. Some of them have put a little bit of effort, but most of them copied one line from the Quran. The people who wrote on this side actually put effort into this and know what they were talking about. If only everyone was educated...

  • People focus on a very narrow view of Islam

It's all well and good quoting Sura from the Quran and going "Look! Violence!" but you have the remember the Quran is not Islam, so even if the Quran could be argued to be "violent" that doesn't demonstrate that Islam is. All religious texts have violent wording due to their historical context, but it would be erroneous to assume that this means the religions which utilise them follow them word for word exactly.
Most accounts of Islam as being seen as violent are formed through looking only at extremist positions. It's akin to blasting the entirety of Christianity on the actions of Westboro, which makes little sense at all. The principle point being most westerners simply don't care enough about Islam to educate themselves beyond this perspective; as far as they are concerned Islam is represented by terrorists, Saudi Arabia and immigrants who can't speak English.
What they fail to look at is countries like Malaysia (majority Muslim) and Turkey which are both secular states with a Muslim majority. These states do not implement the extremist interpretations of Sharia as do the Saudis, yet follow the same religion. This makes one ask whether the extreme interpretations of Islam are rooted within the religion itself, or rather within Arab culture. Despite the fact Malaysia is predominantly Muslim you simply do not see a lot of the things people view as being "Islamic" practiced and this is because their culture is not Arabic in nature.
People also conveniently forget the silent thousands of secular muslims who have emigrated across the world. It's simply down to the loudest voices command the most attention. So when somebody screams about representing Islam when waving a knife or gun around people pay attention to that because it's easier to do so, rather than compare that to the multitude of times they've encountered Muslims where they didn't bat an eyelid simply because these Muslims appeared "normal".

  • Islam brings peace...

    Islam enjoins;
    1.Don't kill.
    2.Don't drink alcohol
    3.Don't hurt women
    4.Don't steal
    5.Don't lie
    6.Don't play gambling
    7.Help poor people
    8.Don't hurt animals
    9.Be fair
    10.Don't arrogance
    11.Be patience
    12.Works and teach
    1.Good people
    2.Bad people

  • The Two Faces of Islam.

My beliefs about Islam have changed since then (mostly because I’ve studied Islam). Nevertheless, I recently realized why I had been so quick to defend the Muslim religion. Over the years, I’ve known several Muslims, and they have all been kind, peaceful individuals. Indeed, despite the popular portrait of Muslims burning flags and desecrating images of George Bush, majority of Muslims are normal, faithful, peaceful people, going about their daily lives with no intention of blowing up buildings or of burning anyone’s flag. Many in the West deny this, but they typically do so because they have never so much as talked to Muslims.

The benevolent nature of these Muslims has a profound psychological effect on Westerners. It causes us to say, "Wait a minute. Islam can’t be bad, because Muslims are such nice people. Thus, the terrorists who blow up buildings and subways must be extremists." Once we have convinced ourselves of this, we may even find ourselves defending Islam, as I once did. We know that people are angry at terrorists, and we know that some of these angry people may want to take out their anger on Muslims. So we end up defending Islam in order to protect our Muslim friends. While protecting people is certainly a noble goal, defending Islam is an entirely different story.

If someone were to ask me, "David, do you believe that Islam is a religion of peace?" my answer would not be "Yes" or "No." Rather, my response would be, "First tell me what you mean when you say ‘Islam,’ for it is a term that is used in different ways." If by "Islam" we mean the religion that is practiced by more than a billion people around the world, I could reasonably answer with a qualified "Yes," because it is a religion of peace for many people (though not for all). But if by "Islam" we mean the religion taught by Muhammad, I would have to respond with a resounding "No."

I’m very happy that most Muslims are willing to live in peace with their neighbors. Yet we have to be honest here. Benevolent Muslims aren’t peaceful because they are following the example set by Muhammad. They are peaceful because they’ve chosen to do what’s right, and because they are willing to live far better lives than Muhammad himself lived. In fact, many Muslims are such kind, peaceful, and gentle people that they seem to be following the example set by another great religious leader—one who died on the cross for the sins of the world and rose from the dead to prove his message. This man gave his listeners a sober warning: "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them" (Matthew 7:15). And, may I add, we should also watch out for false religions, which come to us crying "Peace! Peace!" when they are built on a foundation of murder and bloodshed.

  • Religions, especially major ones, are generally founded on peace.

The window that most Westerners see Islam through is very slim. Terrorists are not at all a majority of Muslims. Because there are a few people that are violent in the name of something does not mean that it is violent at its heart. Violence is not a major aspect of Islam. Although the Quran contains violent verses, most muslims do not strictly follow these violent verses. There are verses of the bible that are equally as violent. I find it surprising how few Christian radicals there are, and wonder why that is. Don't let a few extremists ruin the picture of the non-violent majority of Muslims.

The "Holy" book the Quran that the Islamists use states very clearly To behead those who do not convert....There are more than just a few that talk about violence.... The Book also talks about how it is good to die in Allah's name... Such as in war....Being a martyr is basically what it talks about

  • Islam is not a religion of peace

There are plenty of verses that order believers to kill infidels. There is also a verse that says it's alright to beat and rape your wife if you think she's arrogant. The Quran also says that it's alright to make a non muslim a slave. Islam also spread through conquest, which nearly always means violence. Just looking at some of the 7 deadly sins shows that Islam is a religion that wants to spread heavily.

Before you say "But not all Muslims believe this" you need to understand that I'm talking about Islam, not muslims.
P.S There was a muslim preacher that admitted that Islam wasn't a religion of peace.

  • There are two ways to judge a religion, by how it's practiced and by it's holy books or texts. Islam fails both........

The fact of the matter is that while most Muslims won't tie a bomb to their body doesn't mean that their peaceful. More than 60% of Muslims agree that the one's insulting the prophet should be punished, that goes against freedom of speech. Also since the Kuran clearly states that all Muslims must disregard "man's laws" and follow only the divine law (Sharia), and lets not forget that this includes stoning adulterers, gays and nonbelievers.........

  • Can Islamic doctrine be held responsible for the Terror attacks? Yes.

Jihad is an Islamic term referring to the religious duty of Muslims to maintain the religion. In Arabic, the word jihād is a noun meaning "to strive, to apply oneself, to struggle, to persevere". A person engaged in jihad is called a mujahid, the plural of which is mujahideen (مجاهدين). The word jihad appears frequently in the Quran, often in the idiomatic expression "striving in the way of God (al-jihad fi sabil Allah)", to refer to the act of striving to serve the purposes of God on this earth.

Muslims and scholars do not all agree on its definition. Many observers—both Muslim and non-Muslim—as well as the Dictionary of Islam, talk of jihad having two meanings: an inner spiritual struggle (the "greater jihad"), and an outer physical struggle against the enemies of Islam (the "lesser jihad") which may take a violent or non-violent form. Jihad is often translated as "Holy War", although this term is controversial. According to "Orientalist" (historian of the Middle East) Bernard Lewis, "the overwhelming majority of classical theologians, jurists", and specialists in the hadith "understood the obligation of jihad in a military sense." Javed Ahmad Ghamidi states that there is consensus among Islamic scholars that the concept of jihad will always include armed struggle against wrong doers.

It was generally supposed that the order for a general war could only be given by the Caliph (an office that was claimed by the Ottoman sultans), but Muslims who did not acknowledge the spiritual authority of the Caliphate (which has been vacant since 1923)—such as non-Sunnis and non-Ottoman Muslim states—always looked to their own rulers for the proclamation of a jihad. There has been in fact no universal warfare by Muslims on non-believers since the early caliphate. Some proclaimed jihad by claiming themselves as mahdi, e.g. the Sudanese Mahommed Ahmad in 1882. In classical Islam, the military form of jihad was also regulated to protect civilians.

In the modern context the meaning of Jihad has been misused by the people having a political agenda and they are brainwashing the followers of Islam to carryout terror attacks in the name of Jihad. But Jihad is a very important Islamic doctrine and hence we can conclude that Islamic doctrine can be held responsible for the Paris attacks.

Jihad is an important religious duty for Muslims. A minority among the Sunni scholars sometimes refer to this duty as the sixth pillar of Islam, though it occupies no such official status. In Twelver Shi'a Islam, however, jihad is one of the ten Practices of the Religion.

Islamic doctrine have been derived from the scriptures of Quran. According to this scriptures non believers in Islam should not be treated with kindness and Islam should be preserved at all costs. It actively encourages violence as means to an end and that end is propagation of Islam. But this spreading of Islam is at cost of Human lives and it is not a peaceful conquest. The interpretation of verses leaves lot of room for misrepresentation.

  • Islam Creates War

What evidence do I have? How about 911? Or the Boston marathon? Or Chattanooga? Or Paris?

How many deaths is it going to take for people to realize that Islam is a very, very violent religion. Not only did Mohammad promote the killing of infidels, but he married a six year old girl, and robbed her of her innocence at the age of nine.

What more is it going to take to convince people that Islam is not peaceful?

  • Hell No It Isn't

9:5 "Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."

22:19 "These twain (the believers and the disbelievers) are two opponents who contend concerning their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them; boiling fluid will be poured down on their heads,
    22:20 Whereby that which is in their bellies, and their skins too, will be melted;
22:21 And for them are hooked rods of iron.
22:22 Whenever, in their anguish, they would go forth from thence they are driven back therein and (it is said unto them): Taste the doom of burning."
