Is it wrong to question how peaceful Islam is based on the way in which Muslims react to ongoing acts of terrorism?

  • You must understand that the violent parts reflect on the past.

Alright, I will make this brief and fast.
“And fight them on until there is no more terrorism or oppression and there prevails a way for justice and faith in Allah.” [Surah al-Baqarah: 193]
According to this auhat, or passage, Muslims beleive that Muslims themselves must fight against terrorism or oppression for others, in the name of God.

“Except for those pagans with whom you have entered into a covenant and who then do not break their covenant at all nor aided anyone against you. So fulfill your engagements with them until the end of their term, for Allah loves the righteous.” [Surah al-Tawbah: 4]
So when Allah says: “But when the forbidden months are past, then fight the pagans wherever you find them, and seize them and beleaguer them and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war)”
Alright, this is where people assume Allah is telling the Muslims to go wage war in the pagans. However, you must look at the time frame. It was a time in where Muslims had enemies surrounding them from everywhere. The Caliphs, such as Yazeed for example, tried wiping out Islam. It was a time in where the buried their own children. Either you were allies, you we're nurture all, or you are at war, your enemies. Nowadays, that's not how politics work, but what was written was written, but you can't change it. HOWEVER, you may not claim that Muslims accept what terrorist groups such as ISIS and Al-Quada. The Shias, the minority, are suffering. You could say that they are the Jews. And the terrorists are the Nazis.

  • Yes it is.

It is definitely wrong. By practising the Islam faith and being truly devoted to it one would not see how it could not be a peaceful religion. As bad as it is the word 'terrorism' has been attached to something it is not. Yes there are terrorist that are Muslim however, there more non- Muslim terrorists than Muslim ones. The 'ongoing' acts indeed are unacceptable however looking into some of the rules stated in Islam. The things that they do are not permitted to these people are in fact sinning. Those who claim are doing these acts for Allah are wrong as they are breaking the rules provided.
I personally believe that Islam is a peaceful religion but not all the followers are

  • It epitomizes prejudice.

My pastor recently questioned how peaceful Muslims truly are- particularly those in the United States- based on the fact that he has not heard a "collective" protest from Muslims protesting as what he calls their "brothers" in the Middle East. I see it as blind prejudice- equating everyday Muslims to members of terrorist groups. I am curious to know what you all think- hopefully I can get ideas from both sides to either strengthen or question my standards.

  • Muslims consider some violence to be a holy act

"Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority" Quran (3:151)

"And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah [disbelief] is worse than killing..." Quran (2:191-193)

I've met some nice, good believers of Islam, but violence is in the Quran. These evil terrorists are doing this not only to cause fear but in pursuit of pleasing Allah.

  • Not wrong to 'question'

Questioning in itself is not wrong, in fact it is a very reasonable and rational thing to do. The actions of Muslim extremist groups have been much publicised and has given many people the idea that Islam promotes violence and not peace. This of course, is not true as such. But to simply question the peace aspect of Islam is not wrong, just like to question the violence condoning aspect of Islam is not wrong either. To conclude something without questioning it IS wrong, in my opinion.

  • If you think the quiet ones are peaceful think again

Go ahead and try living like a Westerner in their countries see what happens and if you think once they outnumber us here we will still be free to live our life the way we do now? It would be foolish of them to try dominating while we still out number them in our country but if you're under 50 years old you are going to get the pleasure of finding out how they will run our country when the numbers are there

  • They Justify Terrorism, Their Apologetics is Damning Evidence:

I had for many years with many Islamic friends and even house mates, thought that since my friends were peaceful, Islam could be a peaceful religion. Though listening to their justification of terrorist acts of aggression and their leaders Appologetics rants actually saying such acts are not so bad, condemns their religion entirely. The people may be nice, but they all hope for Islam to be the dominant religion of the world and in having such hopes, they do not condemn the terrorist methods used in an attempt to achieve this end. Thus I now perceive it is not a religion to be trusted at all.
It was born from pastoral nomads which were war like and dominate by conquest and Fear, the religion will never change from this. Their beliefs are entirely False, but you cannot tell them this in many countries for fear of death. It is a religion that will never listen to reason.
