Is political polarization an issue that should be addressed in the United States?

Asked by: TheSnippyPanda
  • Political Polarization decreases the number of moderate thinkers.

Political polarization is the divergence of two or more parties from a middle ground to ideological extremes. While it is important for there to be a diverse set of ideas in any governing body, there must always be enough moderates to bridge the gap in order to pass bipartisan bills, regulations, budgets, and resolutions. Too much political polarization can lead to a "do nothing congress". It's because of the pressure lobbies and other special interest groups put on members of congress that senators and representatives feel that they must become progressively more polarized.
