There is no credible evidence for the existence of Christ

  If we are to look at the Historical Jesus vs the Mythical Jesus we find that like so many of the other Myths of that era the stories were told they were written about but there is no actual evidence to support them. The period in which the Gospel of Mark was written is well known among scholars of ancient literature as an era of allegorical writing. Allegory is defined as follows: Allegory is a form of extended metaphor, In which objects, Persons, And actions in a narrative, Are equated with the meanings that lie outside the narrative itself. The underlying meaning has moral, Social, Religious, Or political significance, And characters are often personifications of abstract ideas as charity, Greed, Or envy. In essence, An allegory is a symbolic narrative. Allegorical writing was prominent in the Greek speaking world from about the 5th century BCE onward, But there was a particular revival of allegorical writing in the 1st century CE among both Jews and Neo-Platonic Greeks and Romans. Indeed the Jewish writer Philo wrote about symbolic and allegorical interpretation of the Hebrew scriptures shortly before Paul began writing his first letters about Jesus. If we look at how the Scriptures are written vs historical accounts it is easy to see that they are allegorical fictions. The big problem with the Christ story from a historical perspective is that outside of these allegories there is nothing mentioned in Greek, Hebrew or roman literature during the time that this Christ was supposed to have lived by any of the historians or scribes.

"There is no credible evidence for the existence of Christ"
There is evidence for Jesus's existence. Also, How come the vast majority of scholars don't doubt the existence of Jesus?

That can be said about any historical figure during Jesus's time.

Knight_Dragon The only reason that the majority of scholars don't doubt the existence of Jesus is because they are Christians and accept the religious texts as factually true from God and don't allow for objective reasoning concerning the subject of Jesus.
As for other historical figures mentioned in the literature of the time there is evidence that Jesus is not the only mythical historical figure of that time period. Unless there are numerous historical accounts by verifiable authors it is questionable. As for Jesus there are NO verifiable authors who wrote one word about this Jesus. The only mention comes a generation after the events were supposed to have taken place and by anonymous authors who embellished on an original folk tale.

@smilinbobs64,

"The period in which the Gospel of Mark was written is well known among scholars of ancient literature as an era of allegorical writing. "
Actually, There is relatively little known about those times as war ravaged the area somewhat constantly. Much of the evidence could have been destroyed or abandoned to deteriorate. Just look at Julius Caesar. A much more important person on the world stage yet little survives as evidence he existed yet nobody claims he's a myth. Clearly the predictions of a coming messiah would predate the age where allegories were common so stories based on that messiah would also not be allegories.
"Allegory is defined as follows:"
Actually, Jesus does not fit the narrative of a person symbolic of a sense of humanity. The Old Testament for-tole there would be a messiah (a real person). Clearly those that wrote the first books of the New Testament believed they were with that actual person. The authors themselves place themselves in the story. A key way to show evidence of an allegory is an allegorical character. For instance, In Genesis, We have a talking snake that represents evil/temptation. This is typical of allegory tales such as ones made for children (basically most every bedtime story) and ones for adults (Animal Farm, Wizard of Oz).
smilinbobs64 says2019-07-27T02:29:53.907
MitchV, The predictions of a messiah would be a perfect topic for an allegory. If we look at how the Gospels are written they are written exactly like the allegorical fiction of the time. Parables are indicative of allegorical literature and throughout the Gospels Jesus speaks in parables. The Gospels are all written in the third person indicative of fictional literature. If you read historical texts from the historians of that time and read fictional literature of that time the Gospels have no resemblance to the historical literature and are exactly like the fictional literature. I can give examples if you would like to compare them.
MitchV says2019-07-28T14:51:04.717
@smilinbobs64,

An allegory is not intended to be taken literally yet the Old Testement tells of a coming messiah. For instance, If you were told that Oz (The Wizard of Oz) was coming to your town, You would obviously assume it was someone who played Oz and not some Wizard from a land beyond the rainbow. Same if you actually met the person. You would see an actor and not a wizard. If the coming messiah was just an allegory from the Old Testament, Obviously you would not have people believing that they actually existed or may exist in the future. They would have seen Jesus as a performer and not the actual messiah that was for-tole.
I wouldn't exactly say the gospels are written in third person as the individual authors of the gospels are also primary characters by name. To the best of my knowledge, These are the only works by those authors so it's not like making up stories is part of their lives. Funny thing is, Jesus was known to tell parables so according to you, He was a parable telling parables.
Of course the gospels are not written like other historic reference of the time. The authors were not politicians or professional historians. They came from everyday life occupations like fishermen and wrote what they felt was an accurate depiction of the Jesus Christ that they knew.

The Genesis 1 IS NOT A POEM, Hebrew Poetry is defined as parallelism so if the Genesis account is poetry we could effectively compare and contrast the two to figure out what is poetry and what is not. Some examples that are made to be poetry is Psalm 104:29-30. These verses show a similar parallel meaning. It tells of God killing and creating the creatures of his Earth through parallelism, This is an excellent example of Hebrew Poetry, So now let’s compare it with Genesis. And there is no parallelism with Genesis. What we are reading is history, Not a poem. We can’t distinguish English poems to the Bible we need to include Hebrew Poems and when we do we actually find that the Genesis account is not poetic. Another thing to note is that Genesis 1 just like the rest of the Bible has an episodic narrative of creating things that goes like this:light, Sky, Earth, Sun, Fish, People, And then rest. Hebrew Poetry does not include that same pattern showing that the Poetry and Genesis 1 is different! The Vac Consecutive is another important grammatical principle in the Bible. When the first verb is in the perfect tense and subsequent verbs are imperfect, The vavs are consecutive, And denote a continuous narrative in the past. Verse 1 of Genesis 1 makes a statement, Then Verse 2 introduces a narrative that is clear, The constructive goes up to Verse 5. Next, The verses start with a Timestamp.

ALL the signs point to Genesis 1 NOT being an ancient poem. You also say you are a Christian! , NO. As a Christian you need to take Genesis 1 as history! , God’s word never changes and is pure, For example read Hebrews 13:8 and Proverbs 30:5. God is pure and never changing so stop changing his word, But what do these fake Christians say about the Creation account. T Jesus directly referenced the creation account, In Matthew 19:4-5 Jesus is quoting that God made Adam and Eve directly referencing Genesis. Again in Matthew 23:35 where he referenced Abel and Cain which is Genesis, Clearly all of the Bible including Jesus takes Genesis literate and so should all Christians!

God created the world in 6 days, Here's 3 reasons why

1. It referred to times of the day, Morning, And evening of the days, How can millions of years be broken up to mornings and evenings! , It makes no sense. As well as the Sabbath, If the Earth is ever changing in millions of years and no break and that we need to rest in thousands of years, How can the Sabbath be true!

2. No one else challenges the use of Yom in other verses. The word Yom is used 2, 301 times in the Old Testament. But no one challenges it in other verses, Why? , We should just throw all those verses that Include Yom down the drain. You have to debunk the other 2000 uses of the word to make an argument against God’s word. Finally, The Hebrew Yom occurs with the word “night” 53 times outside Genesis 1. Guess what! Each of these occurrences refers to a 24-hour day

3. Compare and contrast-since we know that Yom is used so much, We can compare its use in other verses to Genesis 1. In Exodus 20:9-11 it states that God made the world in six days and rested on the seventh. God commanded that Israel followed with him and they couldn’t work on the sabbath.
