Is there value in using public funding for public art projects?

  • Public art reflects the fabric of society

Public funding being used to support public art projects is vital to demonstrating respect for an support for creativity and artists in our society. These projects may not be loved by everyone, but that does not mean they lack value. Without public projects, many of our most beloved structures, murals and sculptures would not be there today. The Eiffel Tower, once hated and called an 'eye sore', is now the symbol of Paris. Growing the roots of a creative culture begins when we place value, or funding, on public art projects. Art stimulates that mind thus stimulating those creative thinkers in our society necessary for invention and innovation.
