Judiciary reviews: A pain in the neck (YES), or bringers of justice (NO)?

  • They are a necessary evil.

Although judicial reviews do slow down the operations of the government, sometimes other channels to complain about the government just don't work. The ombudsman can only help so much on legal matters. When a government performs an action that is unconstitutional or illegal, people should have the right to oppose it. Of course, there are numerous cases where people game the judicial review system or use it for political reasons, but widespread condemnation (not just through lawyer jokes) of such practices should already deter some of the people who do it, and it's a necessary evil to uphold the legitimacy of the government's policies.
