Marriage: Is marriage still important in our society (yes), or has it become obsolete (no)?

  • Yes, marriage has become obsolete in a lot of ways.

Marriage used to mean more to people. Now most people are divorced multiple times in their lifetime. As time changes ad more women decide not to take their husbands last name the act of marriage is becoming more superficial. It is merely a paperwork issue as opposed to being some great thing.

  • Yes, marriage remains important in our society.

Yes, marriage is still very important in society. Its values are held dear to almost everyone. It's the basic foundation of life and family structure. Divorce is more common than previous generations, but so is common law marriage (shared occupancy). Those who impose marriage, still have the fundamentals that our parents or grandparents worked so hard to share with use.
