Martin Niemöller's Warning: Are Trump's immigration policies like Hitler's?

  • Yes, I think so.

He was a World War I hero for the Germans. He represented an upscale Lutheran flock in Berlin. He initially supported Adolf Hitler, but turned quickly. His most-famous work — a poem about the dangers of complacency against rising authoritarianism — is as much confession as warning. You might not care if Donald Trump says Muslims must register with the government, because you're not one. And you might not care if Donald Trump says he's going to round up all the Hispanic immigrants, because you're not one. And you might not care if Donald Trump says it's OK to rough up black protesters, because you're not one.

  • Yes, and a lot of his rhetoric is similar too.

Trump and Hitler are similar in a lot of ways. They are both outspoken, loud and emotional. They both are very nationalistic; Trump favors Americans and American interests above all else ("Make America Great Again"), while Hitler had a similar message about making Germany strong again. They are both very anti-immigrant. Hitler was very anti-Jew and registered Jews, while Trump has proposed refusing entry to Muslims and registering Muslims. The similarities are frightening, but luckily, Trump has appeared to go back on some of his campaign rhetoric since being elected, so I don't expect his presidency to resemble Hitler's reign that much.

  • Martin Niemöller's Warnings on Trump are baseless

Donald Trump sparked a lot of controversy with off-the-cuff comments about lacks immigration policies and the dangers of open borders. He has said there should be a ban on Muslims entering the country. His comments can't be made into a reality. The modern world is much different today that it was in Hitler's time.

  • Trump wants to keep danger out.

Hitler tortured and singled out a group of people so that he could rise to power. Trump doesn't want to kick anyone out who is here legally. He doesn't want to take away the rights of anyone who is lawful. Rather, he just wants to make sure that illegal people don't hurt law abiding Americans.

  • Trump is doing it for the good of America.

1)First of all, Trump is anti-illegal immigration, NOT anti-immigration.

2)Hitler targeted an entire race for no logical reason while trump targets illegal immigrants for a logical one.

    3) Trump wants to keep America safe from the criminals flowing into our country while Hitler wanted rid Germany of the Jewish population.

In conclusion, Trump wants our borders secure and unneeded criminals and drugs out And finally, for all of you who decided to think that trump is anti-immigration, You need to understand that trump plans to make our borders secure, no closed off. In essence, he is creating not a "WALL" but instead a filter to stop the bad people from coming in and to allow the good and hardworking people of other nations to come in and enjoy the America which cares about its citizens and their wellbeing.
