The troop surge did work after careful consideration. Now, by the end of 2014 when American combat troops are withdrawn, the Afghan people will be responsible for their own security. Osama bin Laden is dead and al-Qaeda is on the run. There is no need to keep our armed forces there any moment longer than is necessary. It's called the Department of Defense, not the Department of Occupation.
The people in Afghanistan deserve freedom from the Taliban, the only way for that to happen is to install a government more powerful than the Taliban, and resistant to them. Women in Afghanistan deserve freedom that they will never have unless we act. The people of Afghanistan need to be free from the brutal, fascist Islamic rule of the Taliban. Separation of Church and state is as important to the Afghans going forward as it is for us here in America. The Obama administration needs to hold the fight against the Taliban in Afghanistan until the Afghan government gets on it's feet. More troops to Afghanistan in 2009 and 2010.
There is no way to win the war in Afghanistan. This is not a war that can be won with guns and threats. The Taliban is not going to go away, or if they do they will just return. We need to find a way to cut our losses and get out.
The Obama administration should not escalate the war in Afganistan in 2009 and 2010. We had already wasted enough money on fighting this war, and they no longer posed a real threat to us after the United States of America ramped up its security. The troop should be pulled out of Afghanistan.
I think that the escalation of war in the Middle East should be scaled back. I don't think that we should be over there to begin with. In fact, I think all of our troops should come home. Let the Middle East sort itself out, as much as it can, and protect ourselves.
The Obama administration should not escalate the war in Afghanistan in 2009 and 2010. This is because of the fact that the war has largely contributed nothing, and only added to America's problems. The war in Afghanistan should be put to a halt as quickly as possible due to this.
The Obama administration should not escalate the war in Afghanistan. Unlike other wars of the past, the current struggles the United States are facing with middle eastern countries have no identifiable enemies on the battle field. The missions that are warranted, are more special operations seek and destroy oriented. In which the targets are usually single individuals are small cells operating in a region. This being the case, I do not believe sending in more troops does any good for the conflicts, unless the primary mission is to help the civilian population of these regions in order to build trust and confidence that what we are doing is for the best interest of humanity and not just the United States.
