Should the presidential requirement of being a "natural-born citizen" be removed?

Posted by: PetersSmith This uploading images bug has prevented me from making polls for months.

  • Yes, in order to run for president one must not have to be a natural-born US citizen.

  • No, in order to run for president the candidate must be a natural-born citizen.

  • Kenyan born Obama bypassed this, so what's the point?

  • We already let an Kenyan-born, KGB trained Lizard alien become president. May as well allow others to aswell.

  • Their beliefs are not our beliefs so it will be verrrrrry for the person to adjust to our system

  • The world is so interlinked that this clause is pointless know, are pizza is Italian, our cars are German, our tea is African, our TV'S are British, our Coca Cola is American. What i am trying to say is that without foreign influence the USA would be a great power, Terrorism happens by our own people so why not. This clause will be changed one day i am sure.

Hanspete: "Only native-born U.S. citizens (or those born abroad, but only to parents at least one of whom was a U.S. citizen at the time) may serve president of the United States, though from time to time that requirement is called into question, recently in the case of potential 2016 presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R - Texas), who was born in Canada to Cuban-born father and a U.S-born."

@Hanspete - I am willing to bet you were a birther. Cruz passes none of the tests they insisted Obama didn't pass.

@triangle.128k - I assume you are joking, right?

Ted Cruz was born in Texas, read up on people before going and calming things.

Obama is not a natural born citizen.

@BIGC - He was NOT born in Texas. He was born in Calgary. Find me where you are pulling this bad info from.

@TBR is right. It is a fact that Cruz was born in Canada. He's considered a natural born citizen because his mother was a citizen and he was therefore born a US citizen. That does raise the question - if Obama was born in Kenya, which I don't believe for a second, wouldn't he still have been a natural born citizen from his mother? So the unsubstantiated birther argument is baseless from any angle. Here's a copy of his birth certificate from the Dallas Morning News. That link didn't work right. Might be the capitals the site makes. Just Google "Dual citizenship may pose problem if Ted Cruz seeks presidency" and the article will pop right up.

Huntress: Or they could just check the link in the description lol

Unless it wasn't loading for me, the article in the description didn't feature a copy of his birth certificate and mine did.

Huntress: Oh, I'm just talking about Ted Cruz not being born in the US.
