Right-wing political correctness: Is it as stifling as political correctness on the left?

  • Why can't we all just be nice to one another?

I don't understand why there is a need for political correctness. Don't all religions teach us to be decent to our fellow human beings? Why can't we just stop labeling each other? I understand the need to retain a cultural identity but derogatory terms and by extension the need for political correctness should not be as widespread as it is.

  • You have to follow party line.

A lot of people didn't like Romney as the nominee for President in 2012. They didn't think he was conservative enough. The Republican party bosses told everyone to get in line. In 2016, they told everyone not to vote for Donald Trump. People did anyways. In the end, he won the election over the opposition of his own party.

  • There is no PC on the right

I don't think most people on the right even know what the term political correctness even means. Many of these people are very outspoken and do not stop to worry about who they may offend. At least people on the left take care to use their words wisely so as not to hurt others.

  • Politicians on both sides are getting carried away with political correctness.

Political correctness has been attacked by both parties and is completely ridiculous. It is about being respectful and considerate and avoiding saying things that can be offensive. Simply put, it is being respectful to everyone. During this last election political correctness has somehow been under attack more than ever. Eliminate it and see how things fare.
