I believe they are paid too much. Why not create a cap? So yes, athletes do work most of their lives to get where they are today, but is all that money really necessary? My idea was to create a cap of 600k per year. Some might say: What? That's hardly anything. This is only because of the amount of money we pay them now which makes 600k seem like so little. They're getting paid this much only to play a sport that they adore. The person who commands the whole country of the U.S. only makes 400k per year. So why are people like Kobe Bryant, or Adrian Gonzalez being paid millions every year to do something kids do on the weekends? I don't know about any of you, but i would absolutely work my entire life to be paid 600k every year to play a game that i love. I mean lets be honest, they hardly know what to do with all this money so they will buy a bottle of Krystal for every one in the club, they'll buy 2 planes, one for themselves and one for his "clique". I completely agree with @Mr.Soprano when he said why not use the money for people who "really" need it. Also if we were to create this cap, attending games would be MUCH cheaper. Ticket price would drop dramatically, Food and Drinks would actually be affordable. And people who play the game honestly could care less if their salaries drop to a more than generous pay of 600k per year. People who refuse to be paid this amount can go broke for all i care. We'd see people who aren't distracted by the fat stacks of cash that are rolling in and the game would be MUCH more enjoyable with low prices and players who just want to win the game instead of people who shoot for the cash. People are living on minimum wage which in my state (Illinois) is $8.25 per hour, while Yadier Molina gets paid over $40,000 every time he swings the bat. Sure, the people getting paid so little probably screwed up in school, but where most of them come from is a tough place to develop a young mind. They're parents could have been abusive, or addicted to drugs meanwhile they are surrounded by violence and poverty and are so used to all this evil that they'll end up just like the people their surrounded by. All i ask for is a cap of 600k which i can almost garantee is more than i'll ever make in my life time.
