North Korea is a horrible place, with many human rights abuses, but they have nuclear weapons. They could easily blow up Japan or South Korea. Not to mention they have one of the world's biggest militaries. There are more effective ways to subdue North Korea without immediately threatening them. For example, boycotting them. China is NK's only trading partner. As such, they have power over them.
To a certain extent, they should. Then they should use it's power over North Korea. It's true that much of the wealth collated in North Korea goes straight to the dictator. But it's also true that without China, NK would have an even worse economy, and that would make for even more starvation.
Right now, China has power over North Korea. They have their own motives for not using it, I think they should - and they should use it to close labor camps, and help put a stop to the many human rights abuses and brainwashings in North Korea.
For some reason, many people seem to see North Korea as a joke. It is not. North Korea is a horrible country with nuclear weapons, a caste system, and little to no regard for human life and human rights. Other than a few specific elite families in the capital, the entire country is starving.
NK has concentration camps that are arguably worse than the ones in the Holocaust. Not only is there starvation and labor, but guards are allowed to do whatever they want to prisoners. Kids are born and brainwashed in them. They have extremely little education, and all types of torture if a rule is broken.
Not to mention the dictator and propagandists keep the entire country BRAINWASHED.
Don't you think it's time we start doing something about NK, even if it only affects a small part of them?
We can't attack them - they have nuclear weapons and the ruthlessness to use them, along with a giant army. But China, as NK's biggest trading partner, has tremendous power over them. It's high time they do something, and it seems they need some 'encouragement'.
They're not a threat directly. Need a remind you they are an entire ocean away?
But they are a threat to allies, like South Korea and Japan. They have nuclear weapons and the ruthlessness to use them. No, they should not be dismissed. Definitely not.
But to say they are an immediate threat to us, an ocean away, would be a lie.
If China were to suddenly disappear, there'd be a scramble to make up for all the missing products - but we'd recover. So is China really a threat to us? Does it really hold power over us? Possibly a little. But, as trading partners, we hold a little power over China too. If China made threats or attacked a country without provocation, and lashed out at the world, threatening domination, then the world has the power to team up and boycott China. It wouldn't be easy, but it proves we, internationally, have power over China.
The bigger question is, is China a threat to it's own people? Absolutely.
