Debatable ... Early on, no. Later in pregnancy, yes. There is a grey area inbetween. Women should not be persecuted for what is a horrible decision to make.
You can have the same sort of question of personhood in an end of life situation. If someone is brain dead, they are no longer what we consider a person, and society says it is OK to pull the plug. Similarly, when someone is an undifferentiated clump of cells, they are not yet a person, so it should be OK to pull the plug on them. They are not yet capable of suffering. The fact that the blob of cells could well develop into a person if left alone does not affect whether or not it is a person NOW.
