Never Any Justification As someone who was sexually abused as a child by my mother's boyfriend (and never came forward because of the victim-blaming society we live in), I am pretty damn sure that a six-year-old girl wearing capris and a t-shirt isn't asking to be molested. Nor is a woman who is wearing what she deems comfortable. Not to mention the clothing that is available for the female population of today. Sheer, skin-tight, revealing clothing is what is available for women, so what else can women be expected to wear? Attempting to justify rape is disgusting and misogynistic. There is no excuse, except that you are incapable of taking responsibility for your actions.
Nothing excuses the actions of a rapist. Nothing, and to blame victims for the way they dress, walk, how much they drink is perpetuating the victim-blaming society we live in and perpetuating rape culture.
If a man has a nice watch and he flashes it around, I'm not going to steal it from him, claiming that 'I couldn't help myself'. No. If someone leaves a plate of bacon on the table, I'm not going to eat it (mostly because I can't, but if I could) and say that, 'It was right there and I just had to do it'. I don't care about people attempting to justify stripping someone of their rights to say no, stripping them of the control they have over their bodies. Rape should mean castration, because if someone's going to take away my rights, I want to take away theirs. And trust me, as a victim of molestation, I want to castrate the pedophile who touched me.
