Am I still in the land of the free? First and foremost should be the question of why has my county, a country founded on freedom is taking away my right to own use buy and fly whatever flag I want?
The second question is why is it always a black and white argument? Should I be ashamed to be white and therefore have all my pride stripped from me? I accept and embrace that there is a heritage week for all the races in America. But heaven forbid we have a Euro Anglo Saxon Week that would make us racist. Heaven forbid I be not just white but from the South and PROUD of it. My ancestors did not own black slaves they came to this country to late, from Ireland. As a human I feel hurt and compassion for those that lost their life in the church and anger and disgust for the coward who did it. Why should it matter that they were black and he was white? A monster unleashed his hate on innocent people, period. It is high time we start thinking in these terms and not is black and white terms. I do not ask anyone to be ashamed of who they are and where they come from their beliefs, practices or ways. So why should you ask it of me? White men bought and owned Black people; Black people caught and sold Black people. We as people evolve open new avenues of thinking, the hope is that each generation will do better than the last, our ancestors did what they did it has zero baring on who we are today.
The Constitution says, We the People....There is no argument that it meant We the Rich White Males... Women had no rights, Indians had no rights, Blacks had no rights, Orientals had no rights, Gypsys had no rights, Non land owners had no rights, yet there is no lobbying to remove this document from museums or out of history books. Why? Because over the years we have changed the meaning of that original read to suit our current situations and because it is a part of our history who we were, are, and who we will be. Same as the Confederate flag has changed meaning and symbolism.
The Confederate flag is a symbol of rebellion but so is the American Flag or have you all forgot your ancestors were all traitors and heretics?
