Failure to prepare student for for adulthood Schools do not teach students how to balance a checkbook, do taxes, buy insurance, take out a mortgage, or buy property. It teaches us subjects that will be dropped later in life. There is no need to learn all of this material if the students are not prepared for the future.
Students will most likely be in high amounts of debt due to student loans. Therefore, they will need to learn how to manage the debt they have. School will not teach you, the student, about any of this.
School helps prepare students for other parts of school, not real life. A college graduate will most likely take up to months before finding a job suitable to his/her attributes.
Schools need to change. There should be a class taken in senior year of highschool or college that allows the student to learn how to live through tough times. It should show the student debt, disaster, and hard times that may be experienced in life.
