We're taught the things that aren't important. In school we're constantly taught things that we won't need in life. For example if I'm not going to use equations in my real life.School makes people learn how to do things like Algebra but don't teach them how to buy a house,or take a loan. If someone was never taught anything outside of what the average student learns,they would be able to calculate a circles circumference but not know how to save money,buy cars,pay bills,etc.Knowing how to do these things are a lot more important than knowing how to write in scientific notation.
