Morality is Personal I think the question SHOULD be does religion set the standard for morals? At least that is how I take the question. Here is the thing. You do not need religion to be moral or vice versa. You can be raised religious and turn out to be morally bankrupt just as much as I can as a non religious individual. I say NO because the issue I have is an Atheist I am fully responsible for my actions and I have to be aware at all times the consequences of my choices. I do not get the luxury of thinking I can make a terrible choice only to be forgiven. This CAN create a system for a morally bankrupt person to continue with bad behavior but think its okay because of their religious status and that they can be off the hook. A serial killer in prison cannot FIND Jesus and suddenly they are forgiven, point is they just didn't care in the beginning but society especially in America put so much weight on religion that it is accepted to find Jesus after a life of very bad selfish decisions.
