Not old enough to vote but still thing it should be mandatory part 1 We all have a right to vote the only problem is do we use it correctly? No, we don’t because not everyone is exercising their right to vote. When you hear someone complaining about government and you ask them if they voted they would say’’ No I didn’t vote. Those people have no right to complain if they didn’t vote for the government they wanted. (I learned this from my teacher.)
Some countries have mandatory voting and those countries work just fine. ‘’Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, and Thailand ’’ all have mandatory voting like other countries. (As said in by William Galton.) Australia also has mandatory voting, the country of Australia has a ‘’ political culture’’ very much like ours. (As stated in Upfront ‘’should voting be mandatory’’.) ‘’When voter turnout was less than 60% in the 20th century, Australia adopted mandatory voting in 1924.’’’’Violators will pay a $15 fine.’’ (As stated in Upfront ‘’should voting be mandatory’’.) Only violators have to pay for this is they don’t vote not the voters who actually voted? Now that Australia adopted mandatory voting ‘’the results are remarkable because in the 1925 election, turnout soared to 91%.’’’’In recent events it has hovered around 95%.’’’’In Australia voting is now considered a civic obligation.’’ (As said in by William Galton
‘’ If you give you shall receive’’ Americans have many rights but not many responsibilities. ‘’people should be required to vote to reinforce the principle of reciprocity at heart citizenship.’’’’ By doing this it would increase voter turnout and make our democracy more responsive to the interest of the citizens.’’ Elected officials would more likely pay attention to those who vote. (As said in by William Galton)’’
