Yes they were in the right in dropping the bomb. Studies concluded that if America had not dropped the bomb, over one million more people would have died. And that is Americans alone. Yes this bomb ended thousands of lives, but it saved millions of more. Japan was not going to surrender to America anytime soon, this just sped up their conclusion. So yes, even though i am an eighth grader, i fully support the the decision Truman and the other bright scientist of that decade made.
