Ableism and Hypocrisy Promoting the act of having Native American mascots is purely enabling the rich to profit off real cultures. The more we continue to appropriate Native American culture, the more generations will continue to grow up only recognizing Native Americans as the pictures on a helmet. Furthermore, we cannot expect that Native Americans will gladly allow us to alter and take advantage of our culture if we cannot even dictate to our children the horrors and injustices that this country has inflicted upon American Indians throughout history. That is hypocritical and unfair of us. To support the continuation of Native American mascots is pure ableism and blind prejudice.
